So I already purchased a new car for myself, but the problem is I am stuck here with my old Acura and I want some advice on how much this car is worth, if I am better off trying to sell it to a buyer (and for how much?) or if I should offer to sell it to someone on here for parts.

My 2002 3.5RL has 232,000 miles. I has an ABS, VSA, and check engine light on. Last I checked (about a month ago with my mechanic) the car needed some ball joints for the suspension, a little brake love, and the ENG light usually shuts off when I fill it up with premium gas.

I put a transmission in her about 3 years ago. Put a whole new exhaust system in a year ago. And had the electrical harnesses replaced and rewired 8 months ago because the alarm was going off like it had a mind of its own.

Would like some advice on what the best approach plan would me. I know there are a ton of people on here who work on their cars themselves and I would feel more comfortable selling this to someone who would use it and take it apart then use it and drive it because to be honest, I'm not sure how much life she has left in her.

As you can see from my signature, my parents own a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, bought new by them in January 1995 (they've now given it to me). Being a Jeep, it's had many, many reliability issues, and being as we live in the salt belt, the shocks, control arms and some other suspension parts have become very rusted, but the body itself is in okay condition. We let it sit for about a year, and finally took it to a mechanic, hoping to get it running for the winter, but it turned out that it was unsafe to drive because of the rusted out suspension components. Now, that's not too hard of a fix, but on a car that's only worth about $1000, doing any repairs really challenges the value of doing it at all. Long story short, the Jeep is going to sit in a garage away from where we live, and I'm going to fix/play around it in the coming summer. But, my question is, how do I keep it in running condition while still storing it for about nine months? I can definitely start it up maybe once or twice a month, but that's about it. It's running now (hasn't been running for a year) and I don't want to have to take it back to a mechanic to get it started again, like I did this time. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. :thumbsup:

I drive an 05 TL AT and I'm experiencing a really bad vibration when I shift from drive to N or P. Here's what happens: Sitting in drive, idling at around 900 RPM. Just after I shift into park, it goes down to 500 RPM and starts to vibrate/rattle really badly, and goes back up to 900 RPM after a second or two. This happened right after I replaced
- passenger side motor mount
- timing belt
- idler pulley
- tensioner pulley
- water pump & gasket
- hydro tensioner
- front camshaft seals x2
- crankshaft seal
- drive belt
- spark plugs
Did a search and could only find threads on vibration on 3rd/4th or idling.. I'm also experiencing a slight idle vibration too, not too bad but noticeable. If it helps this was after a cold start in -20 Celsius (-4 Fahrenheit) and about a 10 minute drive. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

For about a year now, my 99 Acura 3.2TL stalls at random moments. At first, it would immediately start back up but more and more it takes longer. I has stalled at different driving patterns. It has stalled while driving 45 mph, stalled while turning onto another road and stalled while driving down the interstate while on cruise control. When it stalls, all of the dash lights come on (battery, oil, CEL, TCS and Key light). It's like it's "coasting" until the engine is completely disengaged and then i lose power steering. In some cases, it will take a good 30 - 45 minutes before it will crank again. When it takes longer to crank, it acts like it's "turning over" but nothing. It will eventually crank up but sometimes it will run like shit - very low idle - and stall out again. Eventually, after enough time and attempts, it will crank up and run like nothing is wrong (like a champ!).

I left it with my mechanic several months ago and they had it for several days. They told me that b/c when it stalls, the key light started flashing and therefore, said it was the ignition. The ignition was replaced but about a month later it cut off on me again. 3 times in one day! My mechanic said i should clean the throttle. Well, before i took it to him, i ran seafoam thru the intake and put some in the gas tank and some in the oil before doing an oilchange. I now am skeptical of my mechanics advise and don't think the ignition has/had anything to do with it.

I took it to the Acura dealership to have them take a look at it. They responded saying that b/c the car is not showing any codes, they cannot give me a diagnosis and recommended that i only run non ethanol gas. I have started doing that the last several months and it has not solved the problem. The car still cuts off on me at random moments. Most recently, i was sitting in the car while having lunch and had the car running in park and it shut off twice within 30 minutes and then it shut off twice that same day while driving home from work.

I do not drive the car very much. Maybe 2 or 3 times a weeks on short drives to the store or something and once a week to work which is about a 30 minute drive on the interstate. It does not do this every time i drive it - just seems to be random.

The car has over 200k miles, has gone thru a tranny rebuild at 150K miles ( which i recently had additional work done - second gear shift plate? ). It is due for a new timing belt and water pump but honestly, if this keeps up I'm thinking about getting rid of the car since no one seems to know why this is happening. The only reason I hesitate is b/c when it runs... it runs good!

Any thoughts or suggestions?

One thing I could really use is an interior trunk release button to my base SportWagon. Wondering how easy or difficult it might be to add? Thanks.

0-60 in 7.2 seconds isn't impressive at all, but it's not as terrible as some people have said. Coming from my TSX this would be about the same time but without a clutch burning launch so my thinking is it would feel faster.

.84g on the skidpad falls short of say a 328i @ .89 but is still very respectable.

The real surprise for me is the 60-0 stopping distance of 122 ft (just 9 ft longer than 328i). People have said the brakes aren't that great but both front and rear rotors are larger than the TSX so this is an improvement as well.

I do wish like many that the TLX was rear wheel drive and more importantly a turbo with about 250 hp and avaliable with a manual, but for what it is the numbers look decent.

All that being said, have any 2.4 owners really pushed their cars hard, and if so, what are your impressions?

I am in Canada so only have access to Aha and not Pandora. However, I am having trouble getting it to show more than one channel. I have set up an Aha account and selected the channels I want. When I link in the car the first channel shows up and by changing channels I get different podcasts for that channel (in my case BBC Global). On lower screen when I press the station key all of the stations are blank and I have no idea how to populate this screen. If I press a blank channel it takes me back to the main Aha screen.

Can anyone give me a primer on using Aha in Canada? Thanks

I have a 2007 TL Type S and it has 66k miles and is an automatic. I purchased it about 2 months ago and never paid attention to gas mileage until recently. I only get about 175 miles for an entire tank of gas!!!! Horrible! I should get getting closer to 300 for an entire tank (20 average mixed hwy/city with a 15 gallon tank). Something is seriously wrong here.

I love this car a lot but the 175 miles total for one tank of gas is 12mpg mixed hwy/city. Really?

When I bought the car I had it inspected at the Acura dealership and everything came up good except timing belt which I an on changing soon. I then took it to my local mechanic and they couldn't find anything wrong (no fuel leaks, etc.). I even changed the oil.

One thing I will add is the car came with an aftermarket cold air intake. Would that seriously take the gas mileage down from 300 to 175 per tank? I though air intakes would increase gas mileage!

Has anyone experienced this on their 07-08 TL Type S and if so what did you did to get it back to a 300 mile range????
